We favour cautious, traceable and understandable answers.
From an address to a position
The address is sent to the French IGN geocoding service to obtain coordinates. It is used only for this check and is not added to the URL.
Geocoding remains an estimate. Users should check the suggested label and displayed position, especially for hamlets and rural areas.
Matching without overinterpreting
The position is compared with available thermal detections, known perimeters and evacuation orders. Distance is calculated from the available geometries; on its own, it does not describe the direction or spread of a fire.
A nearby detection or inclusion within a perimeter does not prove that a building has burned. Without dedicated, sufficiently precise and reliable evidence, the building’s condition remains unknown.
Keeping the context
Each item shows its source, publication or observation date when supplied, retrieval date and confidence level.
The timeline brings known events together without filling gaps. We always distinguish an event’s date from the date on which FeuChezMoi obtained it.
Handling missing data and errors
Sources have different delays, resolutions and coverage. “No information found” only means that no matching data was found in the sources checked at that time.
When a source is unavailable or too old, the service says so. It does not fabricate fallback values or turn missing data into a guarantee of safety.
