Confidence levels help distinguish a signal from confirmed information.
What confidence measures
The confidence level takes account of the source’s authority, geographic precision, freshness and, where available, corroboration by other information.
It qualifies one specific item, not the overall situation. An evacuation instruction may have high confidence while the condition of a nearby building remains unknown.
Reading the levels
High means official, recent information that is sufficiently precise for the stated use. Medium flags a limitation or incomplete corroboration. Low means the information should be treated only as an indicator.
Unknown means there is not enough evidence to assess quality. It does not mean false, safe or absent.
Freshness and coverage
Satellites, European services and local authorities do not update their data at the same rate. Data may accurately describe a past moment without reflecting the current situation.
Coverage can be interrupted by an outage, publication delay, sensor resolution or observation conditions. Always check the dates shown.
A building’s condition
A thermal detection, a short distance or a burned-area perimeter can never prove by itself that a home has burned.
Without dedicated, sufficiently precise, recent and reliable evidence, FeuChezMoi displays “unknown”. For safety decisions, follow the authorities and emergency services exclusively.
